Redmi Note 13: identify the version, chipset and connection mode

Updated 2026-11-04 · Русская версия

“Redmi Note 13” is several different phones on different chips. The chip defines the mode, driver and tool.

Note 13 5GDimensity 6080BROM / PreLoader

Identify your version

  1. Check Settings → About phone.
  2. Check the model code on the box.
  3. If locked, boot to Fastboot and look up the codename.
  4. Note the firmware region.

Qualcomm versions

Connect in EDL 9008; many modern Xiaomi need server authorization to write in EDL.

MediaTek versions

Connect via BROM/PreLoader with the MediaTek VCOM driver; newer chips protect BROM and tools use their own methods.

FRP vs Mi Account

FRP is Google’s lock; Mi Account is Xiaomi’s cloud lock. Different methods, and only with proof of ownership.

Reading the codename in Fastboot

If the phone is locked and there is no box, boot to Fastboot (Power + Volume Down), connect it and run fastboot getvar product. The codename it returns tells you the exact version and therefore the chipset. Keep ADB/Fastboot drivers installed for this step.

HyperOS vs MIUI

Some Redmi Note 13 units shipped with MIUI 14 and later updated to HyperOS. New firmware tightens protection, so a method that worked on MIUI may fail on HyperOS. Write down the exact firmware version and compare it with the tool’s changelog before renting.

Back up first

If the phone still boots and the customer wants their data, back it up before any service operation: Mi Cloud, Google backup or copying files to a PC. EDL and BROM operations usually wipe user data. Also back up EFS/NV if the tool allows it — it protects the IMEI if a flash goes wrong.

Real-world example

A customer brings a “Redmi Note 13” without the box, locked. In Fastboot the codename shows it is the 4G version on Snapdragon 685. That means the Qualcomm 9008 driver and a tool that supports EDL auth for this model. If it had been the 5G version, the path would be different: MediaTek driver and BROM.

What to prepare

Common questions

Bottom line

Version first, then chipset, then mode, driver and tool. The 4G and 5G Redmi Note 13 are different phones — never carry a method across versions without checking.

Glossary

FRP vs Mi Account in detail

After a factory reset without removing the Google account, the phone asks for that account — that is FRP. If the Xiaomi account was not signed out, the phone asks for the Mi Account — a separate cloud lock tied to Xiaomi servers. They are solved differently, and both require proof that the person is the legitimate owner. Ask for the receipt or original box before any work.

Mode entry by version

VersionHow to enter
4G / Pro 5G (Snapdragon)EDL via tool method or test point; Fastboot for info
5G / Pro 4G / Pro+ (MediaTek)BROM: power off, Start in tool, hold volume keys, connect

If the port does not appear, re-check the driver for that chipset before anything else.

Before you pay

A two-minute check of the codename prevents hours of trying the wrong driver and mode. Ask the customer to keep the phone charged and bring the original cable if possible.
