Tecno, Infinix, Itel: identify the chipset, driver and mode

Updated 2026-11-04 · Русская версия

Tecno, Infinix and Itel are brands of the Transsion group, very popular in the budget segment. Almost all their phones are MediaTek or Unisoc, and the first thing a technician needs is to pin the chip, because it decides the driver, mode and tool.

MediaTek or Unisoc

Within one series (say Tecno Spark or Infinix Hot) you find both MediaTek and Unisoc. So do not rely on the series name — only the exact model code. Find the code (box, SIM tray or settings) and look it up in a spec database.

Drivers by chip

ChipDriverPort
MediaTekMediaTek VCOMMediaTek USB Port (BROM)
UnisocSPD (Spreadtrum)SPRD U2S Diag / SCI USB2Serial

The drivers differ and are not interchangeable. Install the one matching the chip.

Connection modes

In both cases the rule is Start first, cable second: the phone holds the service mode only briefly.

Where to get firmware

Flashing needs a file for your exact model and region: scatter plus images for MediaTek, or a PAC for Unisoc. Firmware from a similar model can leave the phone without signal or with a dead display. Verify the model code and version.

FRP on Transsion

FRP removal on Tecno, Infinix and Itel depends on the chip and version. For MediaTek via BROM, for Unisoc via download mode, where the tool supports the model.

Why you cannot go by series

Transsion ships the same line in several hardware variants for different markets. A Tecno Spark 10 or Infinix Hot 30 can be MediaTek or Unisoc. Pick a driver or method by series and you miss: the port will not appear and time is lost. The exact model code is the only reliable guide.

How to find the model code fast

Budget Transsion notes

Budget Itel and lower Infinix/Tecno are more often Unisoc, pricier ones MediaTek Helio or Dimensity. But that is a tendency, not a rule: always check the model code. Memory and battery are modest on budget models, so keep the charge above 30-40% and use a stable connection.

Real-world example

Two Infinix Hot from one series: one on Helio G, one on Unisoc T. The first needs VCOM and BROM, the second SPD and download mode. Install the wrong driver and the port simply will not appear, wasting time.

Glossary

Which tool fits

For Transsion: TSM Tool Pro rental, TFM Tool Pro rental, Cheetah Tool Pro rental, or UnlockTool rental by model list. Check the model code before paying.

Bottom line

For Tecno, Infinix and Itel it all starts with pinning the chip. MediaTek means VCOM and BROM, Unisoc means SPD and download mode. Install the right driver, use firmware for your model, and the work goes without extra tries.

A stream of similar jobs

Transsion holds a large share of the budget market, so a stream of similar phones comes in. The most common mistake is to start by habit without checking the chip. Spend a minute on the model code: it removes most connection and tool problems.

Link to FRP and flashing

After the chip is known, the rest follows: MediaTek means BROM and VCOM, Unisoc means download mode and SPD. FRP and flashing happen in these modes with model support. Do not skip the chip-identification step.

Working efficiently

Make chip identification the first mandatory step for any Transsion phone. It is cheaper and faster than connect and see, which is where time is lost most.

Intake checklist

Firmware sourcing

For a flash, source firmware by the exact model code and region. A similar model file can break the service partitions and the radio bands, so never substitute a near match just because the name looks close.
